Rocklogger represents an innovative tool in the geological field, specifically designed to measure the orientation of rock outcrops. Leveraging the phone's compass and orientation sensors, it enables users to record dip and dip direction or dip and strike with a singular click. Furthermore, it allows for the storage of GPS and magnetic field data, along with essential information regarding the rock plane and type.

• Includes an Android Wear companion app, allowing users to view and save live sensor readings from their phone on a watch remotely (requires a paid subscription). Users can also opt to log remotely using a wired headset, enhancing accessibility in challenging locations.
• Offers the capability to plot logs on a map using accurate dip/strike symbols.

The logs are stored in a .csv format, which can be imported into applications such as Excel or MapInfo for further analysis. For users interested in geographical visualization, paid versions also support KML file exports compatible with Google Earth (both Android and desktop versions).

Traditional methods using a compass or declinometer typically require several minutes per rock for measuring strike and dip. Rocklogger significantly enhances efficiency by allowing multiple measurements of an outcrop within seconds, accommodating any orientation—including upside-down configurations for documenting overhangs in mines.
